How long is a counselling session?

Sessions are 50 minutes.
How many sessions would I attend?
We offer short and long-term therapeutic support based on your needs. At your initial consultation, we will work with you to make the best plan for you.
Can I pick my own psychotherapist?

Absolutely! We 100% believe in “fit” being essential for a positive and therapeutic outcome. You’re welcome to read about our diverse group of Psychotherapists, or if you’re uncertain who would be best for you, you can book a consultation with our Intake.

What does therapy or coaching cost?

We have a range of costs based on the clinician’s years of experience. Our services are also provided on a sliding scale to increase accessibility. Sliding scale spots are determined by your combined household income and availability in the practice. Please inquire at your initial consultation for further details.

How do I pay for my therapy sessions?

Our Preferred Payment Method is e-transfer. For in-person sessions you may also pay by cheque or cash. E-transfer your session payment to: info@redbirdtherapy.ca PRIOR to your appointment.

Receipts are issued after receipt of payment and completion of your session.

Will my health benefits insurance cover the cost of psychotherapy, counselling, or coaching?

You’ll need to speak to your Human Resources department or directly with your Insurance Provider to determine the specific coverage you are entitled to receive. At Redbird Therapy Centre we are Registered Psychotherapists, so make sure you ask if psychotherapy with an RP is covered.

Some employers and insurance providers have not yet changed policies to include Registered Psychotherapists on their listed Regulated Health Professionals. If you find that you do not have coverage for our services, you may want to approach your HR department to advocate for psychotherapy to be included. You can ask them to make an adjustment to the overall plan, or an exception for you to reach your goals.

The Registered Psychotherapists Insurance Committee (RPIC) has information and resources that can help you , including a form letter you can submit to your employer or your union.

Are the sessions online or in-person?
Both! At Redbird Therapy Centre, we’re pleased to offer both virtual and in-person sessions. Talk with your therapist or coach about what’s best for you.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?
At Redbird Therapy Centre there is a 24 hour cancellation policy in effect. If you need to cancel or re-book your session, you may contact your practitioner directly by email, or cancel through your personalized Client Portal.
How do I get started with a psychotherapist or coach?

You can begin simply by booking an initial consultation or you can review our practitioner’s page to see who might be a good fit for your needs.
